Lice & Nits - What You Should Do

First: what you should NOT do:

  • Don't panic (because you'll only scare your child)
  • Don't waste time trying "home remedies" that will not work (And NEVER use anything flammable on your child's hair!!!)
  • Don't run to the store and buy the OTC brands (RID or NIX or the generic versions) Learn why you shouldn't in the "3 Terrible Secrets" article below...

Second: get mentally & emotionally ready to solve this

  • Take a deep breath and be as calm as you can. (Because this problem is not that easy to solve, especially if you are in a panic.)
  • Browse this website and learn the facts about lice, nits and head lice treatments.
  • Tell your child that this happens to millions of people every year and it's not their fault.
  • Understand that other people in your circles of places you go and people you know have lice. (That's where YOU got them from.)
  • Also know that lice prefer clean hair. Having lice does NOT implicate your hygiene or housekeeping.
